What makes touch controls actually good
Touch controls are the part of mobile gaming that's hardest to get right, and it's usually the first thing I notice. A game can look stunning and still be miserable if the buttons are in the wrong place.
The best games give you options. Repositionable buttons, adjustable sizes, and a choice between tilt and virtual sticks mean you can fit the game to your hands instead of the other way round. Small hands and large phones are a real problem developers often ignore.
Feedback matters just as much as placement. When a tap does something visible and immediate, your brain trusts it. When there's lag or no confirmation, you start double-tapping and making mistakes.
If you're struggling with a game, spend five minutes in the control settings before giving up on it. More often than not, the game isn't bad, the default layout just doesn't suit you.
